According to reports, Arsenal are interested in signing Real Madrid defender, Ferland Mendy, as Kieran Tierney looks set to leave this summer.

The Gunners have enjoyed the 2022-23 campaign, sitting first in the Premier League for the majority of the season. However, after a run of poor results, Mikel Arteta’s side dropped out of the title race, with a 3-0 home defeat to Brighton cementing their fate.

Supporters may be disheartened with how the season has ended at the Emirates, but the progress that has been made at the club will give fans hope for the following seasons.

Qualifying for Champions League football for the first time in seven years will be a massive boost for the Gunners, as they look to make key signings in the summer window.

Declan Rice, Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister have all been linked with the side from north London. ON the other hand, players such as Kieran Tierney and Granit Xhaka have been linked with moves away.

The Scottish full-back has fallen out-of-favour since the introduction of Oleksandr Zinchenko and has been touted to join Premier League high-flyers, Newcastle.

Should the Scotsman leave the Gunners, then the club have reportedly lined up a suitable replacement. Real Madrid star, Ferland Mendy, has reportedly caught the interest of Mikel Arteta.

The Frenchman has made 26 appearances this season, contributing with one assist. His availability has been a problem for Los Blancos boss, Carlo Ancelotti, as he has missed 14 games through injury.

Mendy’s last 90 minutes came in January, with a muscular injury keeping him out for over 13 matches. However, due to the 27-year-old’s contract situation, a move may be easier than expected.

The France international’s current deal runs out in 2026, but with Eduardo Camavinga, who is not a natural full-back, replacing Mendy in the left-back position – his time in Spain could be up.
