Manchester City move back to favourites to win the Premier League this season after Arsenal’s title odds slip following a feisty 1-0 loss to Everton on Saturday.

  • The first half ended 0-0 with Everton shutting out Arsenal at every opportunity
  • Everton took the lead for the first time under Sean Dyche with a James Tarkowski header
  • Arsenal are now 1/1 to win the Premier League

The first half at Goodison Park saw very little action, as the Toffees were able to keep Arsenal out with a great defensive display in the opening 45.

It was one of those who defended so well in the first half who took the lead for Everton in the second period, as James Tarkowski was able to outmuscle Martin Odegaard on a corner to nod past Aaron Ramsdale, giving Sean Dyche his first goal as Everton boss.

Arsenal struggled to get into the game throughout the second half and some lack lustre finishing in front of goal meant that Everton picked up their first three points under new manager Dyche.

The later stages of the game saw Arsenal’s old nemesis Neal Maupay come on for Everton and the Frenchman caused all sorts of problems when he came on, most notably in the last minute when he threw Oleksandr Zinchenko to the floor off the ball to earn a yellow card.

The loss for the Gunners means that they are no longer the favourites to win the Premier League this season, as second placed Manchester City go back to odds on with a five point gap to close.

Premier League Winner Predictions

Manchester City are now favourites at 10/11 to win the league later this season after Arsenal dropped points to Everton in the early kick off on Saturday.

City are still yet to play this week and with the gap between first and second remaining at five points, there is no room for a slip up against Tottenham on Sunday.

Premier League Winner Odds

  • Manchester City 10/11
  • Arsenal 1/1
  • Manchester United 33/1
  • Newcastle United 100/1
  • Liverpool 500/1
