Liverpool defender Andy Robertson was spotted at Lady Cathy Ferguson’s funeral where he was seen wearing a blue sling. Robertson was subbed off in the first half off Scotland’s defeat by Spain after colliding with Unai Simon. He walked off with his arm wrapped in his shirt.
There’s no official news on the specifics of the injury but if it’s a dislocated shoulder then Robertson could be facing up to four months on the sidelines.
Scotland coach Steve Clarke commented on the injury after the Spain game:
“Obviously he hurt his shoulder. We’ll have a look and he’ll go back to his club,” he said.
“It always seem to happen when you lose one player in that position so we lose Kieran (Tierney) off the left side and Andy’s picked up a shoulder injury.
“We’ll see how it is, see how it settles down and hopefully he’s good for his club as quickly as possible and ready to help us in November.”
This will be an injury that will test Jurgen Klopp and back-up full-back Kostas Tsimikas. With over half of the Europa League group stage left to play, Tsimikas will surely not have the legs to play every game for Liverpool.
Klopp will need to look for a makeshift let-back, a role that James Milner would’ve fit perfectly but he joined Brighton in the summer as a free agent.
There was some good news for Robertson following confirmation that Scotland will be heading to Germany for the 2024 Euros. Spain were victorious over Norway which sealed the Norwegians fate of being involved in the March play-offs for a Euro 2024 spot.
