Could an Alexander Isak transfer away from Newcastle be on the cards this summer? The Swede is becoming a wanted man after being linked with a summer move to Arsenal and Tottenham.

Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak is one of the club’s top assets, and his future is uncertain at a time when the club are having to seriously consider their financial situation.

SportsLens sources have confirmed the club are having to become more open-minded about the prospect of selling him.

It is highly unlikely either Tottenham or Arsenal could stump up £100million for 24-year-old Isak, despite that figure being touted as his going-rate.

Yet Newcastle are beginning to consider how they could rebuild their team if they are forced into a shake-up of the first team at the end of this season.

They have been scouting strikers around Europe, and SportsLens‘ understanding is that they have Stuttgart’s Serhou Guirassy, FC Porto’s Evanilson, Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres and Bayer Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface on the radar.

Manager Eddie Howe is under pressure at the moment as Newcastle have failed to build on last season, when they qualified for the Champions League. It is not a guarantee he stays but even if he does, it might be with a new-look team.

Sven Botman and Bruno Guimaraes are Newcastle’s other star names and while Botman is now facing a lengthy lay-off after knee surgery, Guimaraes is also being hunted for a move.

Paris Saint-Germain are favourites to bid for him and – thankfully for Newcastle – he has a £100million release clause that protects them.

Isak is the player in focus at the moment and while Arsenal and Spurs are being linked, neither would be capable of bidding at the £100m level.

It does not mean the Gunners should be ruled out of trying to sign him, as they are on the lookout for new goal threat and there is a feeling he could still be purchased at a slightly more reasonable fee.

He signed for Newcastle from Real Sociedad for £63million in 2022 and Isak has 14 Premier League goals in 21 games this season, scoring two penalties in the 4-3 comeback win over West Ham at the weekend. Last season he scored 10 times from 22 Premier League outings.

Spurs’ interest in Isak is being played down at this stage but it might be that Chelsea are more likely to show interest if he really is attainable.
