The 2023 Grand National betting market saw a few changes over the weekend with impressive Classic Chase winner Iwilldoit cut from 50/1 into around 20/1 with most bookmakers ahead of the Aintree showcase race on Saturday 15th April.
Iwilldoit Cut In The 2023 Grand National Betting After Classic Chase Win
We last saw the Sam Thomas-trained Iwilldoit winning the 2021 Welsh Grand National at Chepstow – which was 383 days ago – but that didn’t stop this improving 10 year-old (yes, he’s getting better with age) landing the Classic Chase at Warwick last Saturday (watch below).
Ridden by Stan Sheppard, Iwilldoit was always up with the pace and with stamina assured kicked on to take up the led two fences out. From there on in the outcome never looked in any doubt despite the 2021 Classic Chase winner, Notachance, making a bold bid to eventually finish third.
As a result of the win, the layers cut Iwilldoit’s 2023 Grand National odds from 50/1 into @ 20/1 with BetUK, as he now looks to do what the 2017 Classic Chase winner – One For Arthur – did and follow-up in the ‘Merseyside Marathon’ in the same season.
Trainer Sam Thomas told the Racing Post: “He’s a star – he’s very genuine and it’s very straightforward when they want to do it for you like he does.Â
“He doesn’t need these conditions, but the speed he was going at the start was the same speed he was going at the finish. He’s given us a few options going forward but it’s the softer the better for him.

However, Iwilldoit – despite his age (10) – has only had five runs over fences (4 wins) and as per the Grand National race stipulations will need to take in one more chase race between now and Feb 19th if he wants to get into the Aintree contest. Grand National runners need a minimum of 6 runs over fences to qualify for the race.
At the moment, he’s got no entries on the horizon, but you feel connections will be looking through the races in the next 4 weeks to get another outing over fences into him.

Noble Yeats Remains 2023 Grand National in Bid For Repeat Win In Aintree Feature
The 2022 Grand National winner – Noble Yeats, remains the favourite for the Grand National @ 10/1 BetUK.
