BANKER: 5:10 Bath: ALBUS ANNE 6/4

Albus Anne caught the eye when winning here at Bath earlier this month and a 3lb hike in the ratings for that success looks very lenient. This Jimmy Fox-trained 4 year-old got over the line 1 1/4 lengths ahead of the rest that day and it probably could have been further. She’s a horse that excels best in softer ground and is expected to get her favoured conditions again today. Georgia Dobie, who rode last time, continues in the saddle to claim a handy 3lbs and, despite this being a slight step up in grade, is the form horse in the race and rates today’s horse racing ‘banker’ tip.

EACH-WAY: 2:52 Bath: AUTUMN ANGEL 10/1

The aptly named (for this time of the year) Autumn Angel is chanced as today’s each-way tip with a few interesting factors. Firstly, she’s trained by Tony Carroll, who has won this race twice in the last three years, so they clearly have it on their radar each season. Next up is that she’s a proven CD winner here at Bath, having won here back in July and is only a pound higher this time. The final icing on the cake is the jockey that rode her to that last course success – Tom Marquand – is back in the saddle. Draw 5 looks ideal too and connections have also freshened her up with a few months off, with (I suspect) this race in mind.

LAY OF THE DAY: 4:40 Wetherby: SEA THE CLOUDS 9/4

The Jamie Snowden runner Sea The Clouds is certainly an improving young hurdler, who has won his last two in good fashion. However, he’s up another 4lbs here and this race looks a bit more competitive than the last one he contested at Warwick last time. He’s now racing off a career-high rating and even though there’s a chance he’s still not finished improving (still only 6 years-old), he’s got another big weight (11-13) to lump round and it could just be the handicapper is hot on his heels, so he’s taken to just fall short in his three-timer bid today.
