Barcelona legend Lionel Messi is in line to win his eighth Ballon d’Or later this month after the winners for both the male and female awards for this year were leaked on social media.

Leaked Results: Lionel Messi To Win Ballon D’Or For Eighth Time

The 36-year-old failed to win the award last year, but is now set to win his third since 2019 and a record-breaking eighth overall.

Messi took his illustrious career to new heights when guiding Argentina to World Cup glory in Qatar last year, and it looks to have helped him a lot en route to winning yet another Ballon d’Or.

The prestigious award will be presented at Paris’ Theatre du Chatelet on October 30th where Messi will return to the French capital just months after leaving Paris Saint-Germain.

Messi struggled to settle in Ligue 1 when joining the French giants after 17 years at Barcelona, but still had a say in proceedings and helped the side clinch consecutive titles with 16 goals and 16 assists.

Eventually leaving Paris in the summer, he joined Inter Miami in the MLS and immediately set the league alight with a string of influential performances.
