Manchester City frontman Erling Haaland remains the betting favourite to be the Champions League’s top scorer in 2023/24 despite a goalless start to the campaign.

On Matchday 1, Haaland failed to find the target in City’s 3-1 win over Red Star Belgrade – but he did bag an assist for Julian Alvarez’s equaliser and continues to be involved in the scoring.

Wednesday night saw Matchday 2 conclude with Haaland goalless again in the Sky Blues’ 3-1 victory against RB Leipzig away from home as they sit comfortably at the top of Group G.

The Norwegian has been the competition’s top scorer on two occasions already at the age of just 23 – first in 2020/21 with ten goals for Borussia Dortmund and again last season with 12 for City.

Second in the betting is Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane, who scored in his side’s opening game against Manchester United but failed to add to that tally in Copenhagen.

Kylian Mbappe is next with one goal to his name so far, also coming in PSG’s first outing of the campaign in a 2-0 win vs Borussia Dortmund two weeks ago.

Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowksi has one and possesses the fourth-best odds, followed by Haaland’s strike partner Julian Alvarez who currently co-leads the competition with three goals.

Joao Felix, Gabriel Jesus, Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Jr are amongst the names further down in the running, alongside Rasmus Hojlund.

Manchester United’s starlet is carrying serious momentum after scoring against Bayern and finding the back of the net twice against Galatasaray, but after two straight defeats it’s unclear whether they’ll progress past the group stage.
