Ahead of the 2023 Ryder Cup on Friday 30th September, we take a more in-depth look at Marco Simone Golf & Country Club. This includes what the course record is and who holds it.
What Is The Course Record At Golf Marco Simone?
A total of 24 of Europe’s and America’s best golfers will be hopeful of producing their best golf at the 2023 Ryder Cup. Marco Simone Golf & Country Club takes centre stage – a beautiful golf course situated ten-miles from Rome city centre in Italy.
The course itself is a par 71 and stands at around 7,181 yards in length. There are 11 par-4s, three par-5s and four par-3s. Following the re-design by Fazio from 2018 to 2021, the focus was on creating a golf course specifically with the drama of match play in mind.
There is no doubt Marco Simone is a difficult course, but the record is an emphatic 62 – nine under par. That course record was shot just four months ago at the 2023 Italian Open.
This is quite an emphatic score, considering Marco Simone is considered one of the trickiest courses in Europe. It remains to be seen whether any of the 24 Ryder Cup players will get close to the course record, or whether the course will prove to be difficult.

Who Holds The Course Record At Marco Simone?
Romain Langasque shot the course record at Marco Simone Golf & Country Club on Saturday at the Italian Open back in May, carding a -9 62.
The Frenchman had seven birdies and eight pars in the opening 15 holes, stepping up onto the 16th tee at -7 for the day. The best was yet to come, as Langasque made eagle at the driveable par-4 16th, getting him to -9 for the day. He then parred the final two holes to card a sensational 62.
The French golfer made these comments follow his incredible nine-under-par course record of 62 shots:
“I did not expect nine under, I didn’t expect to shoot a very low score on this course because it’s quite a tough course.
“I was just trying to hit the fairway, which I didn’t do in the first two rounds. After this there are a few opportunities.”
