The 2023 Ryder Cup is edging closer, with Europe and America’s best golfers all heading to Marco Simone Golf & Country Club for the 44th edition of the Ryder Cup. In this article, we aim to inform you on who owns the golf club and what the course is worth.
Who Owns Marco Simone Golf & Country Club?
Marco Simone golf course was originally designed by Jim Fazio and David Mezzacane back in 1989. However, more recently the course was fully restored by Jim Fazio’s more well-known son, Tom Fazio.
The Fazio’s may be the well-known architects of the golf course, but they are not the owners. In fact, the golf course is owned by the late Laura Biagiotti.
Biagiotti and her husband, Gianni Cigna, purchased the 350-acre estate back in 1978 and founded the ‘House of Biagiotti’. Laura Biagiotti was a fashion designer, known as the ‘Queen of Cashmere’, and is the woman who bought the property and castle, which had fallen into complete disrepair for the majority of the 20th century.
Biagiotti and her husband bought the site, and tasked architects Fazio and Mezzacane with designing a world-class golf course on the land. Biagiotti saw her land transform from old castle ruins and fields, into a restored castle and state-of-the-art golf course before her passing.
Sadly, Laura Biagiotti didn’t live to see Marco Simone experience its greatest attention and glory for the upcoming 2023 Ryder Cup. She suffered a heart attack on the castle grounds back in May 2017 and died two days later.

How Much Is Golf Marco Simone Worth?
Given the fact that Marco Simone Golf & Country Club is widely regarded as one of the top golf courses in Europe and perhaps even the world, it comes as no surprise to learn that is is worth a fortune.
The course is only 34 years old, so mightn’t be worth as much as you’d think. However, that isn’t to say that it isn’t worth millions. In fact, according to Golf Digest, Marco Simone Golf & Country Club is worth $13 million.
This is partly down to the recent redevelopment and restoration of the golf course, specifically making it suit the test that is match-play golf. This $13 million price tag is likely to be undervaluing the glorious Italian golf course.
Now that the 2023 Ryder Cup is set to take place at Golf Marco Simone from 30th September to 1st October, the course’s worth will surely catapult even higher in the aftermath of the event.
