The candidates for the 2023 Ballon d’Or have been revealed, with England boasting three nominees, whilst Manchester City have the most representatives in the 30-man shortlist with seven nominations.

With the candidates for the 2023 Ballon d’Or now confirmed, seven-time winner Lionel Messi is once again the overwhelming favourite to lift the accolade for a record-breaking eighth time.

Manchester City have the most players involved on the 30-man shortlist with seven nominees, with Erling Haaland reportedly holding the best chance of pipping Messi to the title, joined on the list by teammates Kevin De Bruyne, Ruben Dias, Bernardo Silva, Rodri, Josko Gvardiol, and World Cup-winner Julian Alvarez.

There’s three involvements for England too, with Real Madrid starlet Jude Bellingham among the nominees, as well as being nominated for the Kopa Trophy, and is joined by his national teammates Bukayo Saka and Harry Kane.

Other Premier League nominees include Arsenal‘s Martin Odegaard, Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah, Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana, and Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez.

Notable absentees include five-time winner Cristiano Ronaldo – who is omitted from the candidacy for the first time since 2003, as well as Real Madrid’s Toni Kroos, Bayern Munich‘s Thomas Muller, and Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford.
