New Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglu has approved a move for Brennan Johnson, with Spurs expected to make a move for the Nottingham Forest star in the next week.

Tottenham have been reportedly interested in signing Brennan Johnson from Nottingham Forest all summer and they may finally make a move for their man this week with Ange Postecoglu approving a deal.

Nottingham Forest are reluctant to let one of their star players leave this summer and they have already rejected some big proposals for Johnson in this window.

Brentford made an approach for Johnson this summer, with Nottingham Forest turning away their £40m bid in the hopes of keeping the Welsh international.

With Harry Kane leaving Spurs for Bayern Munich ahead of this season, Tottenham have been left with Richarlison up front as a sole striking option in a team lacking depth in attack.

Johnson scored eight goals and recorded three assists last season for Forest, playing an essential role in keeping the side in the Premier League after a relegation scare.

Although they were disappointing in the World Cup, Johnson also played for Wales in Qatar where he featured off the bench in all three of their group stage matches.

So far this summer Tottenham have spent £167.8m on eight new signings, but with Kane leaving for a fee of around £87m the side still have plenty to spend before Friday if they want to.

Spurs are also reportedly interested in Barcelona youngster Ansu Fati, who looks destined for a move away from Spain this summer after struggling to get game time for the Catalan giants.
