Following the departure of Moises Caicedo for Chelsea, Brighton are reportedly eyeing a move for Arsenal‘s Albert Sambi Lokonga in their search for midfield reinforcements.

Brighton are on the hunt for a brand new midfielder following the departure of Moises Caicedo for Chelsea, and according to reports – the south coast club are interested in Arsenal’s Albert Sambi Lokonga.

This comes from Sky Sports News, who claim that the Seagulls have switched their focus to securing a deal for Sambi Lokonga after negotiations have ‘become difficult’ with Lille over the signing of Carlos Baleba.

Roberto De Zerbi’s side have been in talks with the Ligue 1 outfit over signing the 19-year-old, however that move now looks to be up in the air.

Sambi Lokonga had been linked to newly-promoted Burnley earlier in the window, who wanted to sign the Belgian on loan with an option to buy.

As it stands though, there have been no concrete talks between the Clarets and the Gunners – leaving the door open to Brighton for a move.

Sambi Lokonga arrived at the Emirates in 2021, and after making 25 Premier League appearances for the club, he spent the second half of last season on loan at Crystal Palace.

He made nine appearances at Selhurst Park last term, making his debut as a substitute against Manchester United.

The 23-year-old would become the sixth new face to arrive the Amex this summer, following the likes of James Milner, Mahmoud Dahoud, Adrian Mazilu, Igor, Bart Verbruggen and Joao Pedro through the door ahead of their first ever European campaign – as they take part in the Europa League.
