Arsenal are reportedly keen on signing Brentford goalkeeper, David Raya, after a move to Bayern Munich appears to have fallen through.

Mikel Arteta’s side, according to transfer specialist David Ornstein, are on the verge of opening negotiations with the Bees and could see David Raya move to the Emirates next season.

The Spaniard has made 141 appearances for Brentford and has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League.

A move away from the Bees looks inevitable this summer and the Spaniard looked set to join Bundesliga champions, Bayern Munich, however a move to Arsenal would be Raya’s preferred option.

Adding the former Blackburn goalkeeper to their side would leave current number one, Aaron Ramsdale, in a difficult position as his place would be under huge threat.

Talks between Arsenal and Brentford are yet to progress but the early signs would indicate ‘concrete’ interest from the north London side.

The Brentford hierarchy have already prepared for Raya’s departure, therefore they can hold out for their valued £40million in order to sell.

Mark Flekken arrived from Freiburg earlier in the window, and is likely to become their number one in the Premier League next season.

Flekken is one of four signings so far for the Bees during this window, having also acquired Ji-Soo Kim from Seongnam, Nathan Collins from Wolves, and Kevin Schade permanently from Freiburg having spent last term on loan at the Gtech Community Stadium.

The Bees have recently been linked with a move for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – who is available on a free transfer after being released by Liverpool, whilst also being linked with a big money move for Nottingham Forest forward Brennan Johnson.

The Spanish goalkeeper one year remaining on his current deal, meaning he could cost the Gunners up to £45m – taking their summer spending to over £230m.
