Frankie Dettori Rides Knockbrex in His Final EVER Royal Ascot Race
Frankie Dettori has already won the Ascot Gold Cup this week, but this Saturday will be an emotional day for Dettori as he’ll be in action for the final time at this meeting – having announced he’ll retire at the end of this season.
Before the start of play today, Frankie has been in great form at the meeting with 4 winners and this has taken his tally to 81 overall Royal Ascot successes over the years.
He’s got five more final rides on Saturday 24th June to look forward to and many with chances, with the Charlie Johnston-trained KNOCKBREX the horse that will have the honour of giving Dettori his final EVER Royal Ascot ride.

Can Frankie End His Royal Ascot Riding Days With A Winner?
Frankie Dettori is no stranger to grabbing the headlines and he’s already written a few this week. So, of course he’s going to win on his final EVER Royal Ascot ride – isn’t he?
You’ll be kicking yourself after the race if you don’t back it.
Joking aside, the Frankie final Royal Ascot ride has a big chance regardless. It goes in the second to last race, as he’s NOT got a ride in the 6:10pm (last race), and if Dettori has a few earlier winners on the afteroon you can expect Knockbrex to shorten with the bookmakers.

So, we come onto Frankie Dettori’s final ever Royal Ascot ride and the honour of this goes to young trainer Charlie Johnston – the son of Mark – with a horse called Knockerbrex. This 3 year-old has a chance too after beating a fair sort in Perfuse by 3 1/2 lengths at Pontefract in April and wasn’t disgraced over 1m4f the last day at York.
The drop back to 1m2f looks a big plus (only career win came over this trip) and the Johnston yard have freshened him up with a month off. This race is a new one at Ascot – just the three past renewals. Frankie is yet to win the prize, but the plus is that he’s currently got a 21% strike-rate when riding 3 year-olds at the course, while the Charlie Johnston camp have their horses in decent order at the moment too.
If he wins this we can be assured of a final famous ‘Flying Dismount’ at Royal Ascot and not a dry eye in the house – fingers crossed!
