Ilhan Gundogan, the uncle and agent of Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan has denied that the midfielder has signed a new contract at the club.

The Germany international scored yet another brace and both goals in City’s FA Cup final win over Manchester United on Saturday. His first goal opened the scoring after just 12 seconds, which was the quickest-ever in the final of the competition.

He now has six goals in his last six matches, and his recent top form has cast doubt over rumours that he could leave the Cityzens this summer. Barcelona and Arsenal are known to have been interested in his signature in the past few weeks, with a contract yet to be signed.

Gundogan has played a huge part in City’s success over the past couple of seasons, and could help his side win a majestic treble this weekend. Pep Guardiola’s side face Inter Milan in the Champions League final on Saturday night in Istanbul.

Ilhan Gundogan Denies Nephew Ilkay Has Signed New Contract

Gundogan’s agent was speaking to journalist Fabrizio Romano, and said: “Nothing has been agreed with City or any other club. The recent reports are not true. Ilkay is only focused on the final.”

It’s no secret that Guardiola is doing everything in his power to get Gundogan to sign a new deal and he was speaking to the BBC after the FA Cup final. “(Football director) Txiki (Begiristain) is working on it. Hopefully he can be successful. We are neighbours. We live in the same floor for many years so he is a close friend of mine.

“He plays exceptionally well. I don’t forget him scoring those goals against Aston Villa. Hopefully, we can finish in a good way.”
