In the latest Newcastle transfer news, Magpies target Harvey Barnes is reportedly keen on a move to St. James’ Park amid rumours of his exit from Leicester City this summer.

Newcastle United target Harvey Barnes is reportedly keen on a move to St. James’ Park this summer.

Football Insider report that the midfielder is one of three English midfielder’s on Eddie Howe’s shopping list, joined by James Maddison and Mason Mount.

It is also said that Barnes will depart Leicester this summer regardless of whether they are in the Premier League next season or not.

The Foxes are understood to be looking for around £40m for the 25-year-old.

Leicester will likely be forced to sell Barnes in the summer if their relegation is confirmed, despite him still having two years remaining on his contract.

Securing his signature won’t come easy for the Magpies though. They are likely to face stiff competition from Aston Villa in the race to secure his services.

In a season where Leicester have been bitterly disappointing, Barnes has been one of few bright sparks at the King Power.

The winger is the Foxes’ top scorer in all competitions this term, netting 12 times in 39 appearances. He has also chipped in with three assists in all competitions.

During his time at Leicester, Barnes won his first pieces of silverware in senior football – picking up the FA Cup in 2021, and the Community Shield in 2022.

He has also become a senior England international, making his debut against Wales in a friendly back in 2020.
