After their recent relegation from the Premier League, Southampton face the challenge of keeping their key players. James Ward-Prowse next club odds suggest their captain will be on his way out.
Since making his debut ten years ago, Ward-Prowse has become a key part of the team. He has amassed 407 appearances in all competitions, scoring 54 and assisting 52.
However, the club’s captain might be about to say farewell to the club he’s been at his all career.
After being relegated from the Premier League with Southampton, it’s likely Ward-Prowse will leave to stay in the Premier League.
After their defeat to Fulham, Ward-Prowse was asked about his future:
“I’m not thinking too far ahead. We’ve just been relegated from the Premier League.
“Over the last ten years we have had that kind of consistency and that has wavered. It will be testing for everybody but these are the times that make you as a player and as a club, we have done it before and we will do it again.”

The heartbreak was clear to see in his interview. However, the England international will need to turn his focus onto his future. Euro 2024 is one season away, and he’ll be desperate to be in the squad.

The 28-year-old is also a set-piece specialist. He’s known for scoring free-kicks. His ability and technique is compared to David Beckham. It would be a great card for a team to use during games.

With that in mind, it’s no surprise there’s a long list of clubs eyeing a move for him.
The frontrunners at the moment are Champions League bound, Newcastle United. Since their takeover they’ve survived relegation, reached the League Cup final and are set to finish in the top four. It would be a good move for both parties. They’re priced at 7/2.
Tottenham are struggling on and off the field. They are yet to appoint a new manager and might miss out on the Europa League spots. Ward-Prowse may wait to see who comes through the door as manager before making his choice. Spurs are 4/1 to sign him.
