According to reports, incoming Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino wants to keep Mason Mount at the club.

The Evening Standard are reporting that the Argentine sees the midfielder as a ‘key part of his rebuild’ at Stamford Bridge, despite rumours linking him with a move away.

Mount’s contract comes to an end next summer, seeing him be tipped as one of several players to be shown the door this summer.

Chelsea will reportedly be forced to sell a number of assets this summer to keep in line with Financial Fair Play regulations, with Conor Gallagher also being linked with a move away.

However, expected-to-be Blues boss Pochettino is said to have identified Mount as an integral figure to his plans.

It is believed that the England international wishes to remain at Stamford Bridge despite strong interest from Liverpool, as well as Newcastle and Arsenal.

Upon his appointment, Pochettino will reportedly ask the club to restart contract negotiations with the midfielder.

Although the 24-year-old has had an underwhelming season, he has still managed to make 35 appearances in all competitions for the Blues.

In those appearances, he has scored just three goals, and has provided six assists – a mere shade of his 13 goals and 16 assists in all competitions last season.
