Newcastle were dealt a crushing blow in their pursuit of Champions League qualification in Saturday’s early kick-off, as Unai Emery masterminded another stunning victory to steamroll Aston Villa into the top six. Given their recent form, we are taking a look at the latest Aston Villa top four odds in light of today’s monumental step forward.

An Ollie Watkins brace and an early Jacob Ramsey strike handed Aston Villa a convincing 3-0 win over Newcastle, and in doing so they added to their iron-clad record of late, which now stands at seven wins in their previous eight.

A bouncing Villa Park crowd were treated to another masterful attacking display, stretching a run of scoring two goals or more to five consecutive fixtures.

It also means the Claret and Blue are firmly within the Premier League top six, albeit temporarily with fellow European contenders Brighton hot on their tail.

They do however face the prospect of five upcoming fixtures against teams currently sitting in the top half, with the likes of Brentford, Tottenham, Brighton and Liverpool all on the horizon.
