Dion Dublin’s biggest Grand National fancy is the Irish-trained Any Second Now for the Walsh yard. Any Second Now comes here fresh off the back of an impressive win at Navan last month and boasts some of the strongest form of the 39 Grand National runners.
He has of course placed in the last two Grand National races, with the former Premier League footballer backing him to win at the third time of asking. However, despite fancying Any Second Now, Dublin admits it’s a complete lottery when it comes to picking the National winner:
“We bang them in a hat and someone might give you a little heads up. But it’s the Grand National, it doesn’t matter who you think it going to win and who should win. On the day it’s like a local derby – form goes out of the window.”
