In the latest Manchester United transfer news, the Red Devils are reportedly eyeing a summer move for Chelsea loanee Joao Felix.

Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United are reportedly wanting to capitalise on Chelsea not having the option to buy Joao Felix permanently this summer by bringing the Portugal star to Old Trafford.

Felix joined the Blues on loan from Atletico Madrid in January, making 10 appearances and netting on two occasions since.

The deal didn’t include an option or an obligation to buy. As well, Chelsea reportedly paid a sizeable £9.6 million fee to secure the loan move.

And now, with Graham Potter having been sacked, United are believed to be looking to swoop in for the 23-year-old this summer, per Mundo Deportivo.

Ten Hag’s side had the same option as Chelsea to sign him in January. The Red Devils, though, were put off by Atleti’s asking price for a six-month loan.

United’s main target still remains to be England captain Harry Kane, but Felix could be another option come the summer.

The Portuguese forward joined Atletico from Benfica for a club-record fee of £113 million in 2019. It is believed that United could pay less than that for his services this summer, with the reported possible fee being around the £88 million mark.

Despite United’s interest, Felix is said to be happy in London at the moment.

Chelsea have been in terrible form this season. The 23-year-old, however, has been one of the very few bright sparks at Stamford Bridge this term.

Speaking to the LondonBluePod, Felix spoke about his future and the stature of Chelsea as a club.

“For now I’m on loan at Chelsea, so I don’t know the future yet, but I’m here and I see that it’s a big club with a big project. I know that Chelsea is a great European team, I feel it and I can see it.”
