Tottenham Hotspur defender Pedro Porro has hit back at Tim Sherwood’s criticisms of him after the former Spurs boss called him “so bad it’s unbelievable”.

Pedro Porro sealed his move to Tottenham from Sporting Lisbon back in January. He joined on an initial loan, but with an obligation to buy in the summer.

The former Manchester City man made just one appearances from a possible four in his first month at the club, as he started in the 4-1 drubbing by Leicester City.

Since the start of March however, the Spaniard has featured in five successive matches for Antonio Conte’s side.

He’s helped the team going forward too, scoring in his last match and assisting in the one prior to that.

His arrival at the club hasn’t been without criticism, though.

Former Spurs player and manager Tim Sherwood seemingly struck out at the wing-back upon making his debut against Leicester in February.

Speaking on Soccer Saturday, Sherwood desribed the 23-year-old as “so bad it’s unbelievable”.

His recent form may have changed Sherwood’s opinion, but it’s not stopped Porro from hitting back at him.

Speaking to The Guardian whilst on international duty with Spain, Pedro Porro hit back at Tim Sherwood.

“It doesn’t annoy me, exactly. You know people will have their opinion, they’re going to say you played badly, that you’re no good or whatever.” he said.

“You try not to even notice but it’s impossible. There’s always someone saying: ‘Did you see this?’

“You read what’s said about a player who has been at the club two days – two days – and that hits you because you think: ‘I’ve just got here.’ I’m not a machine that goes like this and that’s it, I know everyone, I’m integrated.” he continued.

“I really hope he keeps saying bad things about me that will make me stronger. I don’t know him. I don’t know what had happened for him to speak. People passed it on, saying he had spoken badly about me, but he won’t be the first who then had to shut his mouth.”
