Manchester United are reportedly ramping up their interest in Monaco’s French international defender Axel Disasi. Read on for the latest Man United transfer news.

Erik ten Hag and Manchester United are said to have stepped up their pursuit of Monaco defender Axel Disasi.

The 25-year-old has just been called up to the French national team and is highly rated in the Principality.

United are believed to have held initial discussions over the Frenchman back in January, but are now ramping up their interest ahead of the summer transfer window.

Disasi’s contract with Monaco runs until the summer of 2025, but outlets in France believe that the club may be willing to part ways with the defender this summer.

It won’t come at a cheap price however, with the club valuing him at around £44million.

This comes as United look set to offload defensive pairing Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof.

Fitness concerns for Raphael Varane too, means the Red Devils will almost certainly be in the market for a new centre-half this summer.

Not only a centre-back, but Disasi is also a capable right-back. This makes him adaptable to a number of positions, which would make him a good asset for whichever club he ends up joining.

Speculation of a move for Disasi has been a constant this season. Not only are United interested in the defender, but also PSG, Bayern Munich, Tottenham and West Ham.

Disasi’s Comments On England

Last year, Disasi himself confirmed his fondness for English football. The Frenchman explained that the Premier League is in fact his favourite league.

“I like England, it is a very exciting league. We can say that it is my favourite league. Between Paris and the Premier League? The place where I can progress the most.”
