Mikel Arteta is the ninth best manager in Premier League history based on most points per game in the League and the Arsenal boss is one of four current Premier League managers on the list.

10. Carlo Ancelotti (Chelsea and Everton): 1.84 pts per game

Carlo Ancelotti

The current Real Madrid boss comes in at number ten on the elite list of most successful managers in Premier League history and it was Carlo Ancelotti’s time at Everton and Chelsea that earns him a place on the top ten.

Ancelotti won the Premier League and FA Cup double with Chelsea in 2010 before he was sacked just one year on, but with an average of 1.84 points per game the Italian comes in at number ten on the list.

Having managed in all five major European leagues, Ancelotti’s record in the Premier League is by far the worst however Everton fans will certainly reminisce fondly of the time they enjoyed the manager briefly in 2019.

9. Mikel Arteta (Arsenal): 1.89 pts per game

Current Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is flying up the ranks this season, as the manager has his side sitting pretty at the top of the Premier League with just 11 games left to play.

Arteta has averaged 1.89 points per game in his fairly short managerial career so far and as Arsenal edge closer to their first league title in 20 years the Spaniards average is only getting higher and higher.

Having only won the FA Cup as Arsenal boss so far, Arteta is the least successful manager on our list in terms of trophies however the 1.89 PPG is a very respectable record to have.

8.  Thomas Tuchel (Chelsea): 1.94 pts per game

Former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel comes in eighth on the official Sportslens list, with a respectable 1.94 points per game.

Tuchel was in charge of Chelsea for just under two years, however the Blues finally decided to part ways with the German in September 2022 after just six games in the 2022/23 Premier League season.

Although he did win the Champions League with Chelsea, Tuchel’s record in the Premier League was nothing special which is why he doesn’t break the top five.

7. Arsene Wenger (Arsenal): 1.96 pts per game

Arsene Wenger

Considering how long he managed in the Premier League, Arsene Wenger’s average of 1.96 points per game is one of the best on this list.

The Arsenal legend enjoyed 22 years in charge of the Gunners and he will be forever remembered for leading his side to becoming Invincible in 2003/04.

Wenger is one of the most highly decorated managers on this list with three Premier League titles, seven FA Cups and seven Community Shields between 1996 and 2018.

6. Jose Mourinho (Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham): 2.03 pts per game

Mourinho

Jose Mourinho has enjoyed spells managing three clubs in England, with Chelsea being the most successful followed by Manchester United and Tottenham.

For someone who has managed in the league for so long, a 2.03 PPG record is very good for the Portuguese coach who has won three Premier League titles (all with Chelsea).

Mourinho’s most recent term in the Premier League saw him take charge of Tottenham for a two year stint from 2019, with the boss failing to win any trophies in North London.

5. Antonio Conte (Chelsea and Tottenham): 2.04 pts per game

Conte

Antonio Conte looks to be on his way out of Tottenham during the International break after coming for the club following Spurs’ 3-3 draw with Southampton at the weekend.

With 2.04 points per game after spells at both Chelsea and Tottenham, the Italian manager still ranks at number five on our list of most successful managers.

Having won the Premier League in his first season at Chelsea, Antonio Conte earned the respect of Blues fans forever. Unfortunately the same can’t be said for Spurs fans, who will be happy to se the back of the current boss when he is inevitably sacked in the coming weeks.

4. Roberto Mancini (Manchester City): 2.05 pts per game

Roberto Mancini

The first of two Manchester City bosses on this list is the legend that is Roberto Mancini.

Mancini lead City to Premier League glory in 2011/12 in a season that provided the world with one of the most iconic Premier League moments of all time, as Sergio Aguero clinched the title with a last gasp winner against QPR.

Mancini’s record of 2.05 points per game has only been beaten by three managers in history and with 82 wins in 133 Premier League games played the manager holds one of the best win rates on the list.

3. Jurgen Klopp (Liverpool): 2.11 pts per game

Jurgen Klopp

Jurgen Klopp has endured one of Liverpool’s worst seasons in recent years during this campaign and the German boss has slipped in the rankings as a result, with Klopp averaging 2.11 points per game for the Reds.

Klopp won the Premier League with Liverpool in 2019/20 however his side has struggled in the league ever since, coming runners up last season and currently placed in a miserable sixth this year.

If he wants to move into the top two managers in Premier League history, Klopp will have to turn Liverpool’s season around in the last few games of the season which looks unlikely at the moment.

2. Sir Alex Ferguson (Manchester United): 2.16 pts per game

Sir Alex

One of the greatest managers to ever grace the Premier League is former Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson, who averaged 2.16 PPG in his illustrious career in England.

Sir Alex won 13 Premier League titles during his time as a manager and in his 26 years with Manchester United the manager picked up a total of 38 trophies.

The veteran manager only dropped below the 2.00 PPG average twice in his career, which shows the remarkable level of consistency that the most successful British manager of all time had during his time in charge of the Red Devils.

1. Pep Guardiola (Manchester City): 2.34 pts per game

Pep Guardiola

Pep Guardiola is one of the best mangers in the world right now and he also ranks at number one on our list of top Premier League managers, with a remarkable average of 2.34 points per game.

Manchester City have absolutely dominated the Premier League in recent years and with four league titles in the last six years it is no surprise that the City boss ranks at number one on our list.

Pep will need to increase his points average by even more as this season comes to a close if he is to secure his fifth title for Manchester City however time is running out with Arsenal eight points clear and 10 games left to play.
