Erling Haaland has taken the Premier League by storm and cemented his name as one of the best footballers on the planet since his move to Manchester, but just what is Erling Haaland’s cost per goal?
In June 2022, Manchester City signed Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund for a fee worth £51.2 million and secured the services of one of football’s hottest prospects.
Since making the switch to England, the 22-year-old has scored an incredible 42 goals in 37 games with five assists in all competitions.
In a world where Harry Maguire cost over £80m, City’s Haaland deal can be considered one of the most cost-effective transfers in history and one that could lead the Sky Blues to maiden European glory.
What Is Erling Haaland’s Cost Per Goal At Man City?
With a transfer fee of £51,200,000, Manchester City have paid £1,219,047.62 per goal from Erling Haaland so far.
This includes 28 in the Premier League, ten in the Champions League, three in the FA Cup and one in the EFL Cup.
What Is Erling Haaland’s Cost Per Hat-Tricks At Man City?
Haaland scored a sixth hat-trick of the season on Saturday evening in City’s FA Cup quarter-final against Burnley as they progressed to the semi-finals at Wembley against Brighton.
The 22-year-old’s cost per hat-trick is £8,533,333.33 – with all six coming at the Etihad Stadium. Haaland (six) has more hat-tricks this season than all other Premier League players combined (five).
Pep Guardiola claimed that Haaland is creating a problem for himself by scoring so many hat-tricks, setting an unrealistic expectation for every game he plays.
“This guy will have a problem in the future, people expect every game he scores three or four goals and this isn’t going to happen.
“The target numbers I don’t know. We play like this, Erling will score goals.”
Haaland on track to break multiple scoring records, but can he reach 60 goals?
The Norwegian has already become City’s all-time leading goalscorer in a single season. This beats Tommy Johnson’s previous record of 38 in all competitions in 1928-29.
With 42 goals so far, Haaland is only the sixth Premier League player to tally 40 or more in a single season. This is just two away from equalling the record at 44 set by Manchester United’s Ruud Van Nistelrooy in 2002-03 and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah in 2017-18.
In a 38-game Premier League campaign, Salah holds the record for most goals (32) whilst Alan Shearer (34) has the bragging rights in a 42-game campaign. Haaland, currently on 28, has 11 league games left to smash both records.
The former RB Salzburg striker averages 1.08 goals per Premier League game and 1.14 per game across all competitions. If this continues he could even reach 60 goals for the season, which is a feat achieved by just five players in history:
According to Premier League betting sites, Haaland is the clear favourite to win PFA Player Of The Year at 1/3 and will undoubtedly add even more goals to an already breath taking season.
