Gordon Elliott With 18 Runners On Cheltenham Day 2
Gordon Elliott has been the top trainer before at both the 2017 & 2018 Cheltenham Festivals. In 2017, he won six races, including three seconds and three third place finishes too. The following year in 2018, Elliott again had a strong year boasting an incredible eight wins, one second and six thirds. The Irish racing trainer will be hoping to replicate this form with a stellar showing at the 2023 Cheltenham Festival.
Elliott has 25 winners to his name in the Cheltenham Festival over the years prior to this year. However, he has won just one of the ‘big’ Cheltenham races before. This year, he will be hoping for more with some outstanding horses on show across the four days.
On Day 2, Gordon Elliott has 18 runners on Wednesday 15th March. These rides include Gerri Colombe who contests the Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase, Delta Work and Galvin in the Cross Country Chase and Andy Dufrense in the Grand Annual Handicap Chase.
Elliott also has s14 more runners on Day 2, with various runners in the Coral Cup Handicap Hurdle, Glenfarclas Chase, Grand Annual and Champion Bumper too.

The 2016 Gold Cup winner with Don Cossack has a few favourites on Day 2. These include Gerri Colombe who is favourite for the Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase, as well as the two favourites for the Cross Country Chase in Galvin and Delta Work.
Do not rule any of Elliott’s 18 Day 2 runners out from at least making it into the each-way places, if not picking up a couple of wins.
The Irish trainer believes his best festival chance comes on Thursday with Mighty Potter in the Turners Novices’ Chase. However, he also has a few big chances on Day 2 at Cheltenham this year including Galvin, Delta Work and Gerri Colombe.
Elliott is also priced at 15/2 as the second favourite with leading bookmaker BoyleSports to be the 2023 Cheltenham Festival Top Trainer.
