Ahead of this afternoon’s North West Derby, former Reds midfielder Steve McManaman has offered his Liverpool vs Manchester United prediction.
Liverpool host Manchester United in the Premier League this afternoon, as the Reds look to move into fifth place.
A win for Liverpool will see them overtake Newcastle United and see them become real contenders for a top four finish.
It won’t be an easy task however, as Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United have lost just once since returning from the World Cup in Qatar.
Red Devils forward Marcus Rashford is in the form of his life, having scored seven goals in his last eight outings in all competitions.
Jurgen Klopp will be hoping for a better result against their bitter rivals this time around, as they lost the reverse fixture 2-1 at Old Trafford earlier this season. Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho netted the crucial goals that day, with Mohamed Salah the one scoring for Liverpool.

Salah’s season has been somewhat underwhelming, but a recent spike in form has seen the forward score three and assist three in his last six matches in all competitions.
Plenty of pundits have offered their predictions for this afternoon’s spectacle, with former Reds midfielder Steve McManaman backing his side for victory at Anfield.
McManaman’s Comments
Speaking to Betfred, McManaman explained that the home advantage will see Liverpool triumph after 90 minutes.
“I think Liverpool will win and I only say that because they’re at home. I just don’t think they’ll lose at home,
“If Liverpool have a strong team out at Anfield, then I believe the fans will drag them home to be honest.” McManaman continued.
“When they played Chelsea a few weeks ago, before Chelsea were going through their really strange period, when Liverpool put their team out, people were claiming that it wasn’t strong enough and they still didn’t lose at home.
“I never believe that they will lose at Anfield in the Premier League because of the crowd and the magnitude of the game
“I’m not being anti Manchester United or pro Liverpool, but when I see derbies or huge games such as this, I will always favour the home team when the teams are quite close because I know what the atmosphere is like and I know what it’ll be like during the game.”
