Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey is set to miss this evening’s top-of-the-table clash against Manchester City due to a muscular injury.

The Gunners take on Manchester City at the Emirates this evening in a vital fixture in the race for the title.

Arsenal have a three point advantage over City at the summit of the Premier League as well as a game in-hand, but a win for Pep Guardiola’s side would see them go to the top on goal difference.

Thomas Partey was invovled in training on Tuesday, but is now expected to miss out on the crunch tie in north London tonight.

Partey is said to have a muscular injury – not believed to be a serious one, and is expected to be low grade.

The Ghanaian midfielder has been a key figure in Arsenal’s push for a first Premier League title since 2004. Partey has started 18 of the Gunners’ 21 league matches this term, performing at a consistently high level.

It has suddenly become a big night for January signing Jorginho, as he is now expected to start in the Arsenal midfield.

Jorginho made his debut under Mikel Arteta 11 days ago as a substitute against Everton, but could now be in-line for his full debut.

A further blow for Arteta is that Partey’s injury will also likely see him miss the Gunners’ trip to Aston Villa at the weekend.

This news comes as a boost to Guardiola and the Citizens, who already have a fantastic record against Arsenal in the Premier League. In recent head-to-head league clashes between the pair, City have come out on top on each of the last 10 occasions.

Premier League betting sites have Manchester City as favourites for this evening, priced at around 11/8 for victory. An Arsenal triumph to keep them top-of-the-table is currently priced at around 21/10.
