Liverpool have come out of the big game against Man City with a 1-0 victory. It was a game that showed just why these two are considered two of the best.
The game started with the class you’d expect from Liverpool and Man City, but neither side could get the better of each other.
Erling Haaland was the focus of not just the fan’s attention, but of Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk. Haaland was reduced to minimal chances throughout the game. He was found by Kevin De Bruyne after peeling off Gomez but couldn’t get enough on the header to beat Alisson.
The second half looked more stretched with both teams looking to take the advantage.
Phil Foden thought he’d put his side ahead after scoring, but his goal was ruled out after a foul by Haaland.

It was Egyptian Mo Salah who got the goal to break the deadlock. It’s been a tough start for Salah, but that goal will silence his critics.

Salah spun Joao Cancelo and went clean through. Unlike earlier in the game, Salah beat Ederson to send Anfield crazy.
The game sparked into action after that goal.
A coming together between Salah and Bernardo Silva spiced the game up. Silva appeared to pull Salah down but the linesman and referee disagreed. This infuriated Jürgen Klopp who was subsequently sent off.
Despite the pressure from Man City, Liverpool held on to claim three massive points.
Speaking after the game, Salah urged his teammates to keep fighting this season. That’s the mentality they’ll need if they want to make sure they get back in the title challenge this season.
"We need to carry on!" 💪
