Why Results of the Grand National Matter
Looking at Grand National results today may help you decide who to back in the race next year. There are only a small number of events that take place over the famous Aintree fences, so finding a horse that adapts to this unique test is really important. Full Grand National results help you identify those types.
It’s true that the race isn’t quite so much of a lottery as it once was, though. Many fences have been modified, rightly so in the interests of equine safety, to make it fairer for all participants. The fact remains, however, when you look at Grand National full race results there are still some hard luck stories.
Not even the best online betting sites can predict what will happen if a horse falls in front of another when jumping the special spruce-covered fences like Becher’s Brook and The Canal Turn. You should also see that Grand National results and prices are pretty competitive. Hot favourites are a rarity here, simply because of the sheer volume of runners.
Grand National full results give you a complete picture of what happened, especially those that detail both horses who cross the line and those that fail to finish. A clear round is a major achievement for both the racehorse and its rider. We applaud all those listed in Aintree Grand National results who complete this most demanding of courses.

Grand National 2022 Results
A fairy-tale farewell from the saddle saw Sam Waley-Cohen become the first amateur jockey for 32 years win the world’s most famous steeplechase aboard 50/1 outsider Noble Yeats. This horse, owned by his father Robert and trained in Ireland by Emmet Mullins having his first runner in the race, was also a trends buster. You have to go back to 1940 for the last seven-year-old to win the Grand National.
Off a much lower weight than Bobbyjo Chase scorer Any Second Now, Noble Yeats surged clear on the long run-in past the famous elbow and looked value for more than the 2 1/4 lengths winning margin. 2022 Grand National results show the the front two pulling well clear of Cheltenham Festival Cross Country Chase winner Delta Work back in third.
This Irish 1-2-3 saw the Emerald Isle dominate yet again with Santini a distant best of the British in fourth, ahead of Fiddlerontheroof. Longhouse Poet, a well-punted Irish raider, rounded off the first six in the Grand National 2022 results with most bookies paying that many places. Three horses fell with two brought down, while 11 pulled-up and nine unseated the rider.

Both 100/1 and 50/1 shots made it into Grand National results 2021 top 6 finishers. There were also three prominent betting contenders at odds of 11/1 and shorter as well. Ultimately, results of the Grand National 2021 tell us that Minella Times triumphed on a historic day for the sport.
Red Letter Day for Blackmore and De Bromhead
Rachael Blackmore became the first female jockey to win the race. She gave owner JP McManus his second victory in the Aintree showpiece and led home a Henry De Bromhead stable 1-2 with Balko Des Flos the runner-up. The 2021 Grand National results also clearly show the front two were some way clear of the third.
Each of the first five horses home here were trained in Ireland. In fact, only one British runner, Blaklion who came sixth, was among the first dozen. Just three finishers were UK-based horses, painting a picture of Irish dominance which reflected the Cheltenham results from the Festival the previous month.

Grand National Results 2020
There is a gap in full results of the Grand National from this particular year. The race didn’t happen due to the coronavirus pandemic. That means there are no Grand National results from 2020 for us to bring you. In the past, there had been postponements like in 1997 and a void race in 1993 but, outside of the two World Wars, an abandonment was unprecedented.
Grand National 2019 Results
The most significant thing about Grand National results in 2019 is a repeat winner. Tiger Roll became the first horse since Red Rum to win back-to-back renewals of the big race. He led home a 1-2-3 for Ireland and gave trainer Gordon Elliott his third victory in the world’s most famous steeplechase.
Grand National 2019 results make relatively better reading for the British too. The home team had four horses in the first eight, although none were closer than fourth place. Two 66/1 shots were in the top seven, but Tiger Roll justified favouritism in spades. As past horse racing results show, he was the shortest-priced Grand National winner in a century.
As the complete Grand National results from 2019 reveal below, almost half the field completed the course. This was an excellent advert for the race. Only three horses fell, two were brought down and another two unseated their rider. That leaves 14 pulled up by their jockeys. The table lists all 19 finishers in this running:

2018 Grand National Results
Tiger Roll completed a memorable Cheltenham Cross Country and Aintree Grand National double in 2018 by the narrowest of margins. He just held on down the long run-in from the final fence to the finish line at the track, which was infamously the undoing of Crisp against Red Rum 45 years earlier. Tiger Roll prevailed by a diminishing head from the rallying Pleasant Company as Grand National results from 2018 show.
Irish horses once again filled the major places, this time with a 1-2-3-4. A narrow margin of a neck separated third from fourth too. Only two British horses finished in the first eight, meanwhile, and all 12 finishers were returned by bookmakers at double figure prices. That shows you how difficult predicting Grand National 2018 results was for punters.
The favourite pulled up, one of 13 to do so. There were also six fallers, five horses who unseated their riders and two brought down. Due to two late non-runners, Grand National results 2018 include a field of just 38 rather than the usual 40. These horses were withdrawn after the stage where reserves could’ve replaced them.
Grand National 2018 Results Table
Position | Horse | Jockey | Trainer | Distance | SP |
1st | Tiger Roll | Davy Russell | Gordon Elliott | head | 10/1 |

Grand National Results 2017
A Scottish success in the Aintree showpiece saw One For Arthur triumph for the Perthshire stable of Lucinda Russell. He ran out a comfortable winner over the Cheltenham Cross Country winner Cause Of Causes. Saint Are took third at the end of the long run-in, relegating favourite Blaklion into fourth. As Grand National 2017 results show, almost half of the field completed the course.
Unlike more recent years, there wasn’t a tide of Irish raiders mopping up the prize money. Only three horses from the Emerald Isle were in the first half of the finishers – the second, seventh and ninth – and just four got round. Grand National results 2017 include four fallers and as many unseating their rider. The rest of the field pulled up.

Grand National 2016 Results
Nobody really thought a maiden over fences could win the Grand National but that’s exactly what Rule The World did for owners Gigginstown House Stud and trainer Mouse Morris. Winless in 13 unlucky attempts at steeplechases, he won the world’s most famous race of this type. According to Grand National results from 2016, Ireland had five of the first six horses home.
Some 16 runners completed the Aintree marathon this time around. Ten of those were British trained. Six horses unseated their riders and another five fell, while a dozen pulled up. Grand National results for 2016 reveal one non-runner, so a field of 39 contested the race. The usual table of all finishers is here below:
