Has Simon Hooper Refereed Man City Or Tottenham This Season?
Simon Hooper is yet to referee a Manchester City game this season but he has officiated a Tottenham fixture in the Premier League. Hooper had the whistle for that game against Liverpool in September, which was littered with controversy.
Hooper sent off Liverpool’s Curtis Jones for serious foul play and also gave Diogo Jota his marching orders after two bookable offences. He also awarded ten bookings but the game will always be remembered for the huge VAR error that ruled out Luis Diaz’s first-half effort.
Ahead of the match, the best UK betting sites make Man City the match favourites at 8/25, with the draw 11/2 and Tottenham 9/1.

Premier League VAR Controversies 2023/24
As earlier mentioned, Simon Hooper was the man in charge during the Tottenham vs Liverpool game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which saw a huge number of talking points and perhaps the biggest VAR controversy ever witnessed in the Premier League.
Not only were the Reds compromised with the two red cards shown to Curtis Jones and Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz had a goal ruled out for offside in the first-half when replays showed he was clearly onside.
It was later revealed that VAR had made an error with the check and the Colombian’s strike was ruled out, much to the dismay of boss Jurgen Klopp.
Hooper will want an incident-free game as he referee’s Man City vs Tottenham at the Etihad on Sunday, but the VAR controversy from earlier in the season will stay with him for a while yet.
