Jamie Bynoe-Gittens is a 19-year-old footballer from London, who currently plays for Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund. The winger has played over 20 games now for the German side, and has been amongst the goals and assists already in his short yet successful career.

It all started for the Londoner with local sider Caversham Trents – who he played for from age 5-7. Bynoe-Gittens then joined Reading, who he stayed with up until 2018, with a short loan spell at Chelsea in the midst of it too.

The promising English youngster then got a move to Manchester City, where he came through their academy and progressed as a footballer. This was before he made the switch to Germany in 2020 after two years in Manchester.

When Did Bynoe-Gittens Make His Borussia Dortmund Debut?

After making the switch to Germany when signing for the eight-time Bundesliga champions, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens career was hampered by a torn ligament injury, which kept him out for several months.

However, the 2021/22 season was when people really began to take note of Bynoe-Gittens. He put in several stellar performances in the UEFA Youth League, which included scoring six goals in four games – two of which came against Manchester United.

This form was good enough for Jamie Bynoe-Gittens to receive a call-up to the Borussia Dortmund first team. The English winger made his official debut for the ‘Black and Yellows’ in a 6-1 win over Wolfsburg on April 16, 2022.

Since then, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens has played another 22 games for Dortmund. He played three more in the 21/22 season, before regularly making it into the first team squad the following season. The 2004-born footballer played 15 games for Dortmund in the 22/23 season.

Bynoe-Gittens scored three goals in these 15 games, as well as grabbing an assist in the process too. His first goal came in a 3-1 triumph over Freiberg on August 12, 2023. Just four games later, Bynoe-Gittens strong form was rewarded with a new contract until June 2025.

Has He Played For England Yet?

Given that Jamie Bynoe-Gittens has had a successful career already, it comes as no surprise to learn that he has represented England at numerous youth levels.

Bynoe-Gittens has made 17 appearances in total for England U15s, U16s, U18s and U19s respectively, scoring once. Notably, the lively winger made it into the England U19 squad for the 2022 UEFA European Under-19 Championship.

England of course went on to win the tournament, with Jamie Boyne-Gittens starting in both the semi-final and final for his country.

Earlier this year, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens made his England Under-21 debut as a substitute in a 3-0 away win over Luxembourg. Since then, he has played another four times for the U21s. How long will it be until he inevitably makes it into Gareth Southgate‘s full England senior squad?
