Legendary striker Zlatan Ibrahimović has declared himself the GOAT, snubbing the likes of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Diego Maradona.

Zlatan Ibrahimović’s Career

Having retired at the age of 42 in the summer, Ibrahimović brought to an end an illustrious career spanning 24 years and nine clubs.

Throughout this time, the Swedish striker’s trophy cabinet became laden with silverware, winning a total of 34 individual and team trophies, including 5x Serie, 4x Ligue 1, 2x Eredivisie, 1x La Liga and 1x Europa League.

Throughout his lengthy career, Ibrahimović played 701 games, notched 442 goals, and provided 201 assists for club and country, per Transfermarkt.

What Did Zlatan Ibrahimović Say About Being The GOAT?

Over the years Ibrahimović has been known, to say the least, as a confident character, synonymous with great quotes and outrageous headlines, and he’s stayed true to form on this occasion.

In a recent interview with Piers Morgan in which the Swedish striker also discussed Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United struggles, the former Paris Saint-Germain man was asked who he thought was the greatest footballer of all time.

In true Zlatan fashion, Ibrahimović responded: “I think I’m the best, without joking. I’m the most complete player that ever existed. [In terms of] skills and all this.

“When we talk pure, only the player, their ability, I think 100% no joking.”

However, in a rare moment of humility, Ibrahimović did concede that if the decision was based on trophies, then he would not be in the conversation: “If we talk about I didn’t win the Golden Ball, no I didn’t. I didn’t win the Champions League, no. If those things matter, no I’m probably not on that list”
