West Ham vs Freiburg (2-0) Report: Hammers Go Through Top Of Group A With Win

Lucas Paqueta was on the end of the first chance of the game, as the Brazilian met a half volley on the edge of the box which rattled the bar early on.

The Hammers were able to make their early pressure count after just 15 minutes at the London Stadium, as Mohamed Kudus got in behind the Freiburg defence to score a third goal in his last five games.

Jarrod Bowen thought he’d scored West Ham’s second just after Paqueta opened the scoring, but VAR pulled the Hammers top goalscorer back after just stepping offside in the buildup.

West Ham did double their lead just before half time, with midfielder Edson Alvarez scoring his first goal for the London club to really put the Hammers’ stamp on the game.

A quick 1-2 with Bowen on the edge of the box beautifully crafted an opportunity for the Mexican – who made no mistake doubling the host’s advantage just before the break.

Bowen again went close shortly after the second half started, with the Englishman missing from point blank range as Vladimir Coufal delivered an inch-perfect delivery.

Kudus had another chance to seal the deal for West Ham in the second half, but the forward couldn’t convert for his second of the game as the Hammers ran out easy 2-0 winners.

The win for West Ham takes them to 10 consecutive European victories in a row, as David Moyes’ side joins some of England’s most elite clubs with immaculate record.
