West Ham won their tenth consecutive home game in European competitions on Thursday night – becoming just the fifth English team to do so following their impressive victory over Freiburg.

West Ham Join Elite European Record

Goals from Mohamed Kudus and Edson Alvarez earned a 2-0 win for West Ham over Freiburg on Thursday night, securing the Hammers a place in English football history.

Arsenal, Manchester City, Tottenham, Manchester United and now West Ham are the only teams in England to have ever recorded 10 consecutive home wins in European competitions.

The Arsenal side that managed the incredible feat was the first team to ever do it, with the Gunners registering 10 home wins during the 1971 season – in the same year that Tottenham would achieve the same record.

Manchester City have managed 10 home wins in two very recent seasons, as Pep Guardiola’s side managed an excellent record in both 2021 and 2023.

City’s treble winning side from last year were able to easily attain the record, with the current side carrying on a 12 game unbeaten streak at home in the Champions League that extends back through an entire undefeated season in the competition last year.

West Ham are the latest side to pick up 10 consecutive home wins in Europe, after their impressive 2-0 win over Freiburg at the London Stadium secured qualification to the knockouts as top seed.

The Hammers have managed to pick up ten wins across their last two season’s in Europe, with the 100% home record stretching back to Summer of 2022.

Since starting their series of home wins in Europe West Ham have attained glory on the highest level – when winning the Conference League last season.

The Hammers advance to the knockout stages as the top seed in their group, with a win taking the Premier League side to 15 points at the end of the group stage.
