Ten-man West Ham United beat Chelsea on Sunday afternoon as they stormed to a 3-1 win against a side who have spent almost five times as much as them so far this summer. Check out the latest Chelsea Top Four Odds after the Hammers brushed them aside.
Story Of The Game
Both sides were looking for their first win of the new Premier League season in what turned out to be a very entertaining London derby. It had everything – a penalty, red card, a flopped debut, four goals and plenty more.
Nayef Aguerd headed West Ham into the lead after seven minutes taking advantage of some poor Chelsea defending. James Ward-Prowse delivered an inch-perfect corner kick to grab an assist on his debut for the club.
Carney Chukwuemeka made it 1-1 as he pulled one back back the Blues with a delightful finish. It was the 19-year-old’s first Premier League goal.

Chelsea grew into the game and ended the first half strong, and they won a penalty after Raheem Sterling was fouled by Tomas Soucek. Enzo Fernandez surprisingly stepped up to take it, but had his shot saved well by Alphonse Areola.
However , despite the pressure, it was the Hammers who led again after half-time as Michail Antonio fired them into a 2-1 lead. Ward-Prowse got his second assist of the game and had a sensational debut resulting in a Player of the Match award.
Just as things started to tense up even more, Aguerd was sent off for the hosts after a rash challenge having been booked already.
This put the Hammers down to ten men for the last 25 or so minutes, but that did not hinder the side one bit. Chelsea piled on the pressure trying to force an equaliser, but couldn’t find a way through.
David Moyes’ men eventually went on to score another with the game finishing 3-1. Lucas Paqueta scored the third, putting his name in the headlines for the right reasons – at least for now. It was a poor tackle on a poor debut from Moises Caicedo, and the Brazilian made no mistake from the spot.
It ends 3-1 at the London Stadium after the 95th minute penalty from Lucas Paqueta!
