Biraghi had been targeted right from the very first corner of the game by the Hammers fans, with plastic cups making their way onto the field on multiple occasions.

After around 34 minutes, Biraghi was trying to take a corner and was struck by a cup, which opened up a bloody gash on his head. The referee also appeared to pick up an Elf Bar and remove it from the pitch, further adding to the drama that unfolded, with many thinking that the vape could have caused the damage.

Hammers players lead by Declan Rice went over to the corner where their fans were positioned to tell the West Ham fans to stop throwing objects onto the field.

Then the stadium announcer came on the microphone and pleaded for the West Ham fans to stop saying: “An important security announcement. Stop throwing objects onto the pitch. Please respect players and the officials.”

It has been an entertaining first half in Prague, with Fiorentina seeing a lot of the ball, but the sides go into half-time at 0-0. However, the Italians thought they’d taken the lead just before the break, but Luka Jovic’s header was ruled out for offside.
