Former Arsenal defender Konstantinos Mavropanos appears to be on the verge of signing for West Ham United after he was left out of the squad by Stuttgart for their game against Bochum on Saturday.

Hammers Close In On Konstantinos Mavropanos Deal

Mavropanos has been a key target for West Ham after their move for Manchester United defender Harry Maguire collapsed earlier this week. A deal was agreed with the Red Devils for Maguire, but the England international wanted a payout from the club before moving on.

The Greek centre-half  has reportedly travelled to London for a medical, so a move could be confirmed by the Hammers in the next couple of days.

Mavropanos has been subject to interest from a number of Premier League sides including Wolves and Nottingham Forest, but the Hammers look to have won the race for the 25-year-old.

The 19-cap Greek international was on the books at Arsenal from 2018 to 2022, with multiple loan moves in that time, and officially left the club last year.

David Moyes is keen to add more talent to his squad and wants to bring Ajax forward Mohammed Kudus to the London Stadium, but they are yet to agree a deal with the Dutch side.

However, the remainder of West Ham’s transfer business could rely on the future of Lucas Paqueta. The Brazilian was heavily linked with a move to Manchester City, but that deal is off now with the midfielder reportedly being investigated by the FA for breaching betting rules.
