Fresh reports this morning suggest the latest Tyler Adams injury news could be more severe than previously thought, after the American underwent surgery on a hamstring problem.

The USA captain was forced to withdraw from their international fixtures against Grenada and El Salvador over the break after sustaining a hamstring injury in training.

Leeds manager Javi Gracia confirmed the midfielder would remain at Thorp Arch to be assessed, but the latest update to come out of Yorkshire this morning suggests the 24-year-old has undergone surgery, which could rule him out for the rest of the season.

The American missed the White’s crucial 4-2 victory over Wolves last time out as a precautionary measure, but it now looks as if they will have to battle through a relegation fight without one of their more talismanic starters.

Since making the switch from Leipzig in the summer, the typically tenacious midfielder has clocked in with 24 Premier League appearances, meaning he has sat out just three games all season.

Leeds face a tall order as top flight football resumes this weekend, with league leaders Arsenal next up in North London. Aside from Adams, Javi Gracia will also likely be without Max Wober and Wilfried Gnonto for a crucial match-up in their bid for survival.

With a game in hand over both Crystal Palace and Wolves, they have the potential to leapfrog their relegation rivals and move two clear of the pack this weekend with a victory, although any sort of result away to the Gunners would be a plus given their iron-clad  record at the Emirates.

However, with both Nottingham Forest and Palace on the horizon in two vital back-to-back home fixtures, Gracia will be hoping the growing injury list won’t hinder their performances.
