Football fans on Twitter/X have reacted to the news that Anthony Martial is out for up to ten weeks after undergoing surgery on a groin injury, meaning the Manchester United forward could have played his last game for the club.

Martial Injury Update

Manchester United forward Anthony Martial will be out for 10 weeks after undergoing surgery on a groin injury.

The Red Devils released a statement on Wednesday, saying: “Anthony Martial has completed successful surgery to address a groin complaint and will be out of action for about 10 weeks as he rehabilitates.

“We wish Anthony a speedy recovery and look forward to his return.”

The French striker has been out of action for Manchester United since mid-December, last featuring for Erik ten Hag’s side in the 3-0 home drubbing to Bournemouth on December 9.

In that Premier League fixture, Martial was substituted after 56 minutes following another insipid display from the French striker, with a cohort of Manchester United supporters cheering his removal.

Martial has been plagued by injuries for almost the entirety of the 2023/24 season, restricting him to just five Premier League starts and eight substitute appearances.

The former Monaco striker is out of contract at Manchester United in the summer with the prospect of the incoming INEOS regime offering him a new deal unlikely, following fitness and form problems.

With Martial set to return from injury in April and the Premier League season ending in May, it looks as if Manchester United fans may have seen the last of the enigmatic striker.

Twitter/X Reacts To Martial’s Injury Update

Martial signed for Manchester United from Monaco on deadline day in 2015 for £36m rising to £58m with Monaco inserting a ballon d’Or clause into the Frenchman’s contract.

Unfortunately, Martial hasn’t lived up to his potential and now football fans on Twitter/X have reacted to the news that he may have played his last game for Manchester United.
