Ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline day, Tottenham are reportedly holding further talks with Nottingham Forest over the signing of Welsh international forward Brennan Johnson.

Ange Postecoglou has given the green light for the Tottenham hierarchy to sign Brennan Johnson, and the club will now reportedly hold further talks with Nottingham Forest over a potential move, according to Sky Sports News.

Johnson has been heavily linked to Brentford and Spurs throughout the window, as well as Chelsea, however it’s the north Londoners who look likeliest to take him away from the City Ground.

The Wales international is said to have been Tottenham’s ‘top target’ in their search for a new forward following Harry Kane’s departure, with Forest looking to secure upwards of £50million for his services.

Forest boss Steve Cooper faced the media on Thursday afternoon ahead of his side’s clash against Chelsea at the weekend, where he shed some light on the situation regarding Johnson.

“If something’s going to happen with any of the boys then it’s coming to that time,” he said.

“We shall see. In terms of Brennan there’s no official news, we just have to carry on as normal. The boys are in later for training and we’ll treat it as best we can like a normal day.

“I wouldn’t say there’s massive disruption to our planning [for the Chelsea game] apart from some injuries that we’ve picked up this week. We’ll just deal with it as it comes.

“I do think there will be some players coming in, and I think there will be players leaving as well, with loans etc. There’s loads of moving parts. We would all like to add the right players to our squad. Any manager will tell you that.”
