Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly submitted a £50million joint bid for Leicester City’s James Maddison and Harvey Barnes following the Foxes’ relegation to the Championship.

According to reports, Tottenham have launched a joint bid for Leicester’s James Maddison and Harvey Barnes.

The report comes from the Daily Mail, who claim that Spurs have offered £50million for the pair, however the Foxes will reject their approach.

Just last year, Leicester were looking to secure £60million each for Maddison and Barnes, therefore Tottenham’s current offer looks to be way below the Foxes’ estimation of the duo despite being relegated to the Championship.

Both players are in high demand, with both being heavily linked with a move to Champions League side Newcastle.

Even with Leicester being relegated, the pair performed phenomenally at times throughout the season – notching 23 goals and 10 assists between them, but it wasn’t enough to secure survival for the former Premier League champions.

Maddison has just a year left on his contract with the Midlands club, therefore a sale this summer is essential if Leicester are to garner a fee for his services.

The 26-year-old is also a senior England international, and is currently away with the Three Lions as they prepare to take on Malta and North Macedonia in European Championship qualifying.

Barnes’ situation is slightly different, as he is contracted until the summer of 2025. However, with Leicester’s drop to the second tier, they will experience a sharp decline in revenue, and with Barnes likely being their most prized asset – a sale may be required in order to raise funds.
