Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Brentford striker, Ivan Toney, despite the 27-year-old’s recent eight-month ban for several gambling breaches.
The England international was banned from football for eight months with immediate effect after admitting 232 breaches of the Football Association’s betting rules.
The governing body handed Toney one of the biggest bans in Premier League history, meaning he will be out-of-action until January 16, 2024, and was fined £50,000.
His display in the 2022-23 campaign was key for the Bees, as he scored 20 league goals and earned the first international cap of his career.
Prior to his ban, the Brentford star has attracted interest from a host of Premier League sides, however, being unavailable until January has ended any chance of a summer move.
Or so we thought, as according to reports, Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing the former Newcastle striker, as Harry Kane looks set to leave the club.

Spurs will be looking to keep their record goalscorer after a disappointing 2022-23 campaign, which saw the club miss out on European football for the first time in over five years.
Antonio Conte’s departure had a huge impact on the north London side, as his temporary replacement, Cristian Stellini was relieved of his duties after a month in charge.
Ryan Mason failed to turn things and the club ended their long search for a permanent head coach by appointing former Celtic coach, Ange Postecoglou, on a four-year deal.
The new manager has already added some fresh faces to the squad, including James Maddison, who has signed from Leicester City for around £40m.
A deal to sign Toney would be an interesting set of negotiations, as his current deal expires in 2025, but is not able to play for another several months. It is believed a fee of £40-50m will be required to acquire his services for the second-half of next season.
