The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium sustained over £100,000 worth of damage in an act of vandalism during the international break.

The incident unfolded on Monday, just after the NFL game between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Buffalo Bills. Police have arrested an individual in connection with the vandalism, but its potential impact on the upcoming NFL clash between the Baltimore Ravens and Tennessee Titans remains uncertain.

Despite Tottenham’s strong connections to the Jewish community, both the club and the police assert that this act of vandalism is not motivated by the ongoing Israeli/Palestinian conflict.

A statement from Tottenham clarified, “We can confirm that an individual was arrested for criminal damage following an incident that took place on Monday night. There is no indication that this incident is linked to anti-semitism.”

Additionally, the suspect faces charges related to the possession of Class B drugs.

The cost of the damage is expected to reach six figures, according to information from the Daily Mail. The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is a renowned global sports venue, boasting a seating capacity of 63,000, making it London’s largest club stadium and the second largest in England, trailing only Manchester United‘s Old Trafford.

This remarkable stadium, which cost an estimated £1.2 billion to construct and opened in 2019, regularly hosts various events, from football matches to boxing and American football games.

The stadium is set to host the NFL match between Baltimore Ravens and Tennessee Titans on Sunday. It will then transition back into a football venue for Spurs’ Monday night fixture against Fulham the following week.
