Toni Kroos has seemingly accused Eden Hazard of letting his career die at Real Madrid, as the former Chelsea star considers retirement at 32-years-old.

Jude Bellingham was confirmed as a Real Madrid player on Wednesday, with the Spanish giants paying £115m for the 19-year-old English superstar.

Eden Hazard is the only player in Madrid’s history to cost more than Bellingham, but the Belgian never really lived up to his £130 million price tag at the Bernabéu.

Toni Kroos welcomed Bellingham to Madrid like any other player on Wednesday afternoon, but also took a not-so-subtle dig at Hazard who is rumoured to be considering retirement this summer.

“We had another player who came for a lot of money and basically let his career die. It was a lot of money, I think everyone would say that wasn’t a good transfer. But let’s be positive

“Jude is a very top player, who many teams wanted due to his quality and age. I usually have great confidence in our decision-makers. If Real Madrid has spent so much, this is a very good transfer for us.”

Hazard featured for Madrid just 76 times over the past four seasons and with injuries plaguing the once talented Belgian winger all year, he is set to terminate his contract before next season.

Injuries have always played a part in Hazard’s career and they have prevented him from ever reaching the top of his game at Madrid, where the fans seem to despise the 32-year-old despite all of his efforts to remain fit.
