Tommy Fury has revealed that his dad, John Fury, may not be in attendance in Saudi Arabia for his fight against Jake Paul on 26th February. ‘Big John’ recently broke his ankle whilst out on a jog, Tommy revealed, and could potentially miss the biggest fight of his son’s career through injury.
John Fury Could Miss Son Tommy’s Fight With Jake Paul
Tommy Fury has revealed in a recent interview that his father could miss his super-fight with Jake Paul due to an injury he sustained whilst jogging.
‘TNT’ is set for the biggest fight of his life as he takes on Jake Paul in Saudi Arabia on February 26th. The fight is being broadcast live on BT Sport Boxing Office with fans also able to watch the fight via some boxing live streaming sites.
However, big John Fury mightn’t be in his son’s corner next month for the Paul fight due to breaking his ankle whilst out on a run recently. Up until now, the 23-year-old has been training for the biggest night of his boxing career in Bolton under the watchful eye of his dad. But now it seems like John Fury’s presence could be lacking over the next few weeks and on fight night due to his injury.
The former Love Island star is hoping his dad will be fit enough to make it to the fight on February 26th:
“My dad is currently on crutches with a broken ankle so he won’t be diving over any ropes. Hopefully it can heal up in the next four weeks, I don’t know. But we are only going over to Saudi to do a job and come home safe and sound.”

John revealed the injury came from running on ice a short time ago and he only has himself to blame.
In a recent interview with BBTVBoxing, he said, “Listen, injuries happen, it’s my own fault being careless, jogging on the ice when I shouldn’t have been. It is what it is, I’ll get through it. I’ll put my best foot forward, which is my left one.”
This is the first time Paul vs Fury has been made. The 23-year-old was forced to pull out of the first scheduled fight in December 2021 due to injury, before not being granted a VISA to enter America for their rescheduled fight months later.
This time however everyone is hoping it’s third time lucky and we get to see these two bitter rivals face-off in the centre of the boxing ring once and for all. Riyadh in Saudi Arabia takes centre stage with the two unbeaten fighters putting their reputations and bragging rights on the line.
Finger crossed the fight happens and there are no more injuries, pull outs or cancellations between now and 26th February. However, it does look likely that Tommy Fury will have to fight this battle alone without the support of his dad on fight night.
