Inspiral has been all the rage in the betting for Saturday’s Queen Elizabeth II Stakes on Champions Day at Ascot, but there are three key trends that John Gosden’s star filly needs to overcome.

Three QEII Stakes Trends To Take Inspiral On With
The Frankel filly INSPIRAL @ 6/5 with BetUK will be a popular pick for punters this Saturday in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes on star-studded Champions Day at Ascot, but if you are thinking of looking elsewhere for the winner – then you’ll be pleased to hear about these three QEII stats that Inspiral will need to kick into touch if she’s going to win.
1. Just Two Filly Winners Of The QEII Stakes Since 1988
Yes, being a filly in the race and taking on the boys, means Inspiral gets a handy 3lbs or 6lbs off the male runners in the race. This is a big plus as she’s already rated 121 and that’s only a pound off Modern Games, who also isn’t a certain runner.
However, since 1988 we’ve only had two female winners of the QEII Stakes. Okay, both these came in recent times with Minding winning in 2016 for Aidan O’Brien – his most recent win in the race, while a year later another Cheveley Park filly Persuasive did the business and was also housed with John Gosden and ridden by Frankie Dettori.
But before that female duo took this top prize you have to go back to 1987 when the Sir Michael Stoute-trained filly Milligram won the race for jockey Pat Eddery.
12 months ago, the fillies Alcohol Free, Mother Earth and Lady Bowthorpe were the latest females to not win, while Laurens in 2018 was another high-profile female that was unplaced.
2. 16 Of The Last 20 Winners Ran In The Last 5 Weeks
Next up if the days last raced as in recent times we’ve seen 16 of the last 20 QEII Stakes winners having run in the last five weeks – all barring Inspiral fit the bill here.
Inspiral was last seen back on Aug 14th when winning the Prix Jacques Le Marois at Deauville (watch below), but that was now 62 days ago. On a plus, for her backers, she does seem to be a horse that goes better off a break, with her only career loss (Falmouth Stakes) coming having raced with just 21 days between races.
All of the other 9 QEII Stakes runners have a big tick for this trend, having all raced 35 days or less ago.
3. 80% Of The Last 20 Winners Ran At Goodwood, Longchamp and Leopardstown Last Time
The final big trend that Inspiral will need to overcome is where she last raced as 80% of the last 20 QEII winners ran at Goodwood, Leopardstown or Longchamp last time out.
As mentioned in the previous trend, Inspiral was last seen in action at Deauville in France and before that had run at Newmarket and Ascot.
However, looking at the others in the race – Modern Games (who may not run) was in action at Woodbine last time, while Bayside Boy, Tempus and El Drama are others that raced away from the three tracks highlighted.
But the ‘good news’ is this stat is a plus for The Revenant, who won this race in 2020 (watch below) and was runner-up in 2019, Checkandchallenge and Tenebrism, who all raced at Longchamp last time, while Jadoomi was winning at Leopardstown when taking the G2 Boomerang Mile there last month – so this Crisford runner gets the thumbs up on this trend too.
