The Bizarre Stat That Will Leave Liverpool Fans Worrying

Liverpool’s nightmare form is summed up well with the bizarre stat that their top scorer since the World Cup break isn’t even a player of the club – it’s Leicester City defender Wout Faes.

The Reds are yet to win a Premier League match in 2023, with Saturday’s loss against Wolves leaving them tenth in the table.

The creative graphic from the Wolves media team was a dig at the Liverpool boss who claimed he didn’t count the third goal.

Since Boxing Day, Jurgen Klopp’s side have scored just six goals in as many league matches, and have failed to score in any of their last three outings.

No player has scored more than one goal, with Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Stefan Bajcetic all on just the single goal since the restart.

Darwin Nunez, who signed in a club-record transfer last summer hasn’t found the back of the net in the Premier League since November.

This leaves the club with an incredible stat, that Foxes centre-half Faes is Liverpool’s top goalscorer since the World Cup thanks to his two own goals on December 30.

The 24-year-old Belgian had a night to forget at Anfield when he turned the ball into the back of his own net twice in the first half of the Reds’ 2-1 victory, after Leicester originally took the lead. Faes scored two own goals in 7 minutes before half-time.
