Ten-man Nottingham Forest fought hard to earn a point against Brentford thanks to Nicolas Dominguez’s second-half equaliser at the City Ground.

After a goalless first half in Nottingham, the game was flipped on its head just shy of the hour mark when Forest left-back Moussa Niakhate was sent for an early bath as a result of two yellow cards.

Just minutes later, the travelling side pounced upon the numerical advantage to take the lead through Christian Norgaard’s glancing header from Mathias Jensen’s free-kick.

Brentford’s lead was short-lived however, and Nicolas Dominguez scored his first goal for the hosts on his second appearance to level the scores at 1-1 seven minutes after.

Both sides now sit in mid-table, with Forest in 11th and Brentford in 13th after seven games played.

According to Premier League betting sites, Forest hold the seventh-best odds to be relegated from England’s top-flight this season and it’s expected that Steve Cooper’s side will evade the drop for a second consecutive year.

In another season it could’ve been a completely different story, but the three sides who were promoted from the Championship look to be the weakest of the lot by a significant margin.

Brentford will be disappointed that they failed to get over the line in what was a very winnable game for Thomas Frank’s men, who have now failed to win in the league since Gameweek 2.
